London Food News: discount Japanese food, free pancakes & cheese toastie burgers

4 April, 2016 — by Toni Ratcliff0

Did we all enjoy Friday’s April Fool’s pranks? Yeah, me either… Instead, here’s something you might actually be interested in.

This week in London food news we have 50% off Japanese food, art with free pancakes, 50% off tea and crumpets and a cheeseburger sandwiched between two cheese toasties. For real.

50% off food at Yumi Izakaya

Regular readers will be familiar with our obsession for Izakaya and all things Japanese, so I was pretty darn chuffed when I heard about a new restaurant opening in the West End offering exactly that, and with 50% off food as well! Yumi Izakaya is a new venue inspired by that most delicious Japanese food of grilled stuff on sticks, and for their soft launch they are offering you lucky people 50% off food when you quote the magic words “sauce 50”. The offer is running until Sunday 10th April so you still have time to get your butt down there.

Art and Free Pancakes

In one of the stranger, or more exciting, entries on this week’s list we have a touring art show featuring drawings, sculptures, graffiti and body painting, plus live music, FREE pancakes and booze*! (*not free I imagine). Visiting London as part of their tour from the US The Pancakes and Booze Art Show will be setting up in a studio in east London on Thursday 7th April from 7pm-2am. Go feed your soul, and your belly.

50% off Tea and Crumpets

Combining two of my favourite ever breakfast items, Good & Proper Tea serve up pots of specially selected teas along with delicious buttermilk sourdough crumpets, topped with sweet and savoury treats. Yummo! To celebrate the opening of their latest site in Clerkenwell, the lovely folks at Good & Proper Tea are offering 50% OFF for one week only, from Thursday 31st March to Thursday 7th April. Ruddy bloody marvellous.

A burger between toasted cheese sandwiches?

Ok, this is a new one even on me. During April The Blue’s Kitchen’s burger of the month will be the Holy Cheezus: a steak patty topped with bacon, glazed onions, rocket, and béchamel sauce served between two cheese toasties! After the success of their last burger of the month, I can only assume this will be another brilliant (if mental) triumph.
