London Food news: The World’s biggest Negroni bar, a Star Wars supper club and 50% off breakfast (twice)

9 May, 2016 — by Toni Ratcliff0

The sun is shining, the tube is already unbearable, is summer finally here?! To get you in the mood this week’s London food news features healthy lunch, the world’s biggest Negroni bar, a Star Wars supper club, the chance to drink whiskey beneath cherry blossoms and 50% off breakfast, twice.

50% off healthy lunch at Farmer J

So, it was really nice and sunny yesterday wasn’t it? You sat in a beer garden all day, drank 10 pints and ate a cheeseburger didn’t you? Don’t worry, I won’t tell. But if you are feeling in need of a healthy lunchtime pick-me-up then I have just the thing: Farmer J opens in Leadenhall Market in the City today and they are serving up fast, fresh, filling food that’s actually good for you. Think charred flank steak and roasted sweet potatoes, or sea trout with a kale caesar salad. Sound good? Well just be one of the first 200 people through the door during their soft launch from Monday 9th – Wednesday 11th May and they will knock 50% off your food bill. I feel healthier already.

Chick-fil-a for one day!

Londoners are pretty accustomed to fried chicken places of late, and this week will see US chicken pros, Chick-fil-A, open for a flying visit at a one day pop-up in north London on Tuesday 10th May 2016, from noon. Chick-fil-A actually outsell KFC in America so I guess they must be doing something clucking right, eh readers?! (Apologies for the shit joke.)

The world’s biggest Negroni Bar

Attention fans of hard liquor! Campari are launching the world’s biggest Negroni bar, in – you guessed it – Shoreditch! (Of course it is, where else would there be a massive Negroni bar?) For ten days from May 11th they will be mixing up 30 variations of the hipster cocktail with all manner of surprise ingredients. Personally I think Negroni’s taste a bit like drinking a mixture of aftershave, wood and hell, but apparently I am on my own there. So if this is your poison, get down to the Red Gallery on Wednesday 11th May from 9pm.

Shochu sakura cherry blossom pop-up extended at Roka

We love Japan, sushi and Japanese whisky over here at camp Methods Unsound so this one ticks all of our boxes. Plus is looks real pretty too. Roka’s Charlotte Street branch have been running a Shochu Lounge decked out with beautiful cherry blossoms for a while now, and due to it’s popularity they are extending it’s run until the 31st May. Get down there and drink one of the three exclusive Hibiki whisky cocktails beneath the beautiful flowers, we’ll book the karaoke for later.

Star Wars Supper Club

So we’ve already seen an X-Wing fly over our heads and blow up the Death Star at Secret Cinema last year, and we’ve eaten at the Twin Peaks Diner, so it was only a matter of time before somebody created an immersive Star Wars themed supper club. Wasn’t it? From 23rd June – 2nd July 2016, The Fork Awakens’ promises punters a “welcome cocktail, four course interactive meal, set design and entertainment”. Oh and fancy dress is encouraged too, obvs. Tickets cost £65 and are available through a ballot, check out @BarrelandForks for more details.

And don’t forget that two of the 50% off food offers that I mentioned in last week’s London food news are also still running this week:

50% off at The Breakfast Club, Hackney Wick

The Breakfast Club, opened their ninth branch in Hackney Wick last weekend and as part of their soft launch they will be taking bookings for Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th May where they will be offering 50% off the bill. Make mine a triple stack with extra bacon and a hard shake please. Breakfast of champions.

The Breakfast Club: Banoffee Pancakes

50% off breakfast at Bukowski Soho in May

The generous people at Bukowski Soho are offering 50% off breakfast for the whole of May! I believe the deal runs Monday-Fridays, 8am-11.30am. Don’t question why, just get down there and stuff your face. Thanks Bukowski!

Alrighty, that’s enough to be getting on with for this week I think. Get back to work.
