Unless you have been living under a rock you can't have missed the fact that it was National Burger Day on Thursday 25th August 2016! My absolute favourite day of the year when people gather to pay homage to this glorious, greasy foodstuff and generally eat a shit-ton of burgers and get a bit fat. (Sounds like my average Friday night! Fnar!)
The sun is shining, it's a Bank Holiday weekend coming up and I have found five cool things happening on the London food scene that will make your week even better. Including National Burger Day, fried chicken from Boondocks, a Rumfest and 50% off steak and Turkish food.
Hawker House is run by the Street Feast team who gather together some of London's best street food vendors and put them all in one place so you can sample the best street food London has to offer without having to actually walk the streets. They have been running Street Feast events in four locations across London for the past few years and Hawker House is the south London sister of Dinerama in Shoreditch which we checked out last year.
This week's London Food News includes National Burger Day, Meatopia, Bottomless craft beer brunch at All Star Lanes and... a naked bar?
I love cheese, a lot. So I had to check out The Cheese Truck at Maltby Street Market and their infamous toasted cheese sandwiches. I was not disappointed.
I haven't written one of these for a little while because I went on holiday for a bit. IS THAT OK WITH YOU?! Anyway, to make amends this week's London food news is a bumper crop of FOUR different restaurants all offering 50% off food! Damn, it's good to be back...
I take on the biggest cheeseburger I've ever seen, in the form of the gigantic Monster burger from African Volcano, Maltby St Marker, Bermondsey.
Did we all enjoy Friday's April Fool's pranks? Yeah, me either... Instead, here's something you might actually be interested in. This week in London food news we have 50% off Japanese food, art with free pancakes, 50% tea and crumpets and a cheeseburger sandwiched between two cheese toasties. For real.
Look at it. Just look at it. It's the most beautiful thing I have ever seen: a coconut and black cherry ice cream sandwich with brown butter choc chip soft baked cookies. All courtesy of Blu Top Ice Cream.
Pinch, punch, first of the month, welcome to your first food news round-up of February! It was close guys but we made it. To celebrate why not get stuck-in to some free pizza, free beer, more street food, delicious (hot) booze and even something for charridee... Go get em!
